Will the Marvel and Simpsons crossover be the first of many?
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time that The Simpsons have crossed over with other Disney franchises. Previously, The Simpsons found themselves in an alien territory. Everybody’s favorite family entered the Star Wars galaxy in an episode that was titled ‘Maggie Simpson in the Force Awakens from its Nap’. The short debuted on Star Wars Day and was released as part of Disney’s celebration for the day that’s dedicated to celebrating Disney’s popular sci-fi franchise. After the success of The Simpsons crossover with Star Wars, Disney is doubling up with a new short, The Good The Bart, and The Loki. The Marvel and Simpsons crossover will premiere on Disney Plus on July 7 alongside the fifth episode of the Loki TV series. It seems like the episode will see Tom Hiddleston’s Marvel persona appear in Springfield to join forces with Bart Simpson and do battle against a whole new set of enemies after being banished from Asgard. As absurd as this crossover might sound, it’s clear that Marvel put a lot of thought into it. The short is essentially a parody of Avengers: Endgame. In the episode, each Simpsons character will find themselves transformed into an MCU character. For example, Lisa will become Thor, as if to tease Lady Thor in the upcoming MCU film, Thor: Love and Thunder. Other Simpsons characters that are shown in the official poster for the Marvel and Simpsons crossover include Moe as The Vision, Ned Flanders as Ant-Man, Ralph as The Hulk, and Milhouse as Hawkeye. Speaking of crossovers, this isn’t the only crossover that Loki has had during its run. Just recently, Epic Games released a new Loki Skin Bundle for the battle royale shooter Fortnite as part of the July Fortnite Crew. With the Loki TV show looking to be Disney Plus’ most successful MCU series yet, taking advantage of the hype with crossovers seems like the right way to go.
