When is the next Ghostbusters game going to be released?
As far as legitimate sources go, one of the people who might be featured in an unannounced video game is as credible as it gets. Case in point, Ernie Hudson. The 76-year-old actor is best known for his portrayal of Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters movie series. Like the rest of the original cast members, he also lent his voice and likeness to the aforementioned video game. So, when he says that a new Ghostbusters game is coming, it’s worth listening. During an interview with Countdown City Geeks, Hudson mentioned that he just “got an email” because he and the rest of the OG Ghostbusters crew are “doing another video game.” He added that he’s not sure who’s going to do it, but that both he and Dan Aykroyd are involved. He explains that he doesn’t know when it’s coming out, but confirms that “it’s definitely happening.” Furthermore, Hudson told the YouTube channel that the team is having a hard time creating his image in the game. He even jokes about how developers often get Bill Murray and Ayrkroyd’s characters right, but almost always end up making him look like “Eddie Murphy or somebody.” Unfortunately, Hudson did not confirm if the unannounced Ghostbusters game is a sequel to the 2009 title or Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which was released earlier this year. After the unsuccessful reboot of the franchise back in 2016, the OG cast and crew returned for Ghostbusters: Afterlife alongside a fresh set of faces. The “sequel” was originally set to premiere in late 2020 but was delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Afterlife eventually launched in the United States last November. The film grossed over $167 million at the global box office and drew mixed reactions from audiences as well as critics. If the unannounced Ghostbusters game can build on the 2009 title, it might just end up joining our list of the best video game adaptations.
