More than half a decade later, Indiana Jones fans will be glad to know that the fifth movie has just wrapped up filming.
The film’s producer, Frank Marshall, went on Twitter to celebrate the momentous occasion. Marshall didn’t need to write a longer message outside of saying “That’s a wrap!!!”, signifying that Indiana Jones 5 is over at least one significant hurdle. Now comes the guessing game, in particular, what the actual title of Indiana Jones 5 is going to be as well who’s going to be playing who and what the story is going to be about.
— Frank Marshall (@LeDoctor) February 27, 2022 After promising a 2019 release date, Lucasfilm has finally made Indiana Jones 5 happen with Ford back as the leading man with a swath of newcomers such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, as well as Shaunette Renée Wilson. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a while to find out more about Indiana Jones 5. If it’s any consolation, with principal photography and filming now over, the post-production team will have ample time to work on the film by the time it hits theaters on June 30, 2023. Until then, fans can expect Disney to start revealing key details about Indiana Jones 5 in the coming months. Who knows? Maybe Indiana Jones 5’s release will be preceded or succeeded by Bethesda’s video game adaptation of the hit movie franchise, which was first confirmed last year. In the meantime, Indiana Jones fans can get their treasure hunting fix by watching Uncharted. After getting blasted by critics ahead of its premiere, the live-action adaptation of Sony’s best-selling franchise hit it big at the global box office. Uncharted’s success has even prompted Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO, Tom Rothman, to describe the film as a “new hit movie franchise” for Sony, suggesting that a sequel is well underway.
