Sony reveals Gran Turismo 7 purchase options
Gran Turismo 7 isn’t expected to launch until March 4, 2022, but Sony has already dropped details about the different ways that Gran Turismo 7 will be available. In its latest PlayStation Blog, Sony detailed that you’ll need to pick up the more expensive anniversary edition if you want to play both the PS4 and PS5 versions of Gran Turismo 7 when it’s available. Meanwhile, if you want to upgrade, that will come with a $10 fee too. It should already go without saying, but if you bought the physical copy of Gran Turismo 7 for the PS4, you’ll need the standard PS5 for it to work. If it’s any consolation, the 25h Anniversary Digital Deluxe Edition comes with a lot of freebies, such as:
Dual PS4 + PS5 Entitlement 1,600,000 CR in-game credits Toyota GR Yaris with country-specific Livery 30 Manufacturer / Partner Avatars The Music of Gran Turismo official Soundtrack Toyota Castrol TOM’S Supra Mazda RX-VISION GT3 Concept (Stealth) Porsche 917K Living Legend
The physical retail versions of the 25th Anniversary Edition will come with a limited-edition SteelBook case as well, but it will only contain 1.1 million in-game credits too. The $10 fee to upgrade from the PS4 version to the PS5 shouldn’t come as a surprise. Earlier this year, Sony backtracked and reversed its small fee for the next-gen version of Horizon: Forbidden West. However, in the same statement, Sony clarified that this was the last time it was going to do. The specific phrasing used was “moving forward, PlayStation first-party exclusive cross-gen titles (newly releasing on PS4 & PS5) - both digital and physical* - will offer a $10 USD digital upgrade option from PS4 to PS5”. SIE President and CEO specifically singled out Gran Turismo 7 and the next God of War as two games that will come with digital upgrade options. TLDR; if you want to play Gran Turismo 7 on both the PS4 and PS5, you’ll have to pay for it; either you pay the $10 digital upgrade fee or get the 25th Anniversary Edition.
