Posted today by Treyarch and Activision Blizzard, the Season 2 cinematic trailer reveals that the new content will launch on the 25th of February - that’s next Thursday! With just a week to go, we expect to get more details about the new content soon, as right now all we have is the trailer itself. That said, the cinematic does offer plenty of clues and hints as to what we can expect in terms of new weapons, operators and maps once launch day rolls around. The trailer takes us to the jungles of Laos, where Frank Woods and his squad are engaged in a rescue mission while shouting the most cliché dialogue imaginable - this script was probably autogenerated by an algorithm - while a harried soldier is running from an unseen threat in the jungle below. Said unnamed soldier ends up bumping into the season’s big baddie - Naga, an agent for Perseus. We’re informed of this name by a custom playing card featuring him in the exact clothes he’s wearing at the time, because it’s apparently standard practice to issue US soldiers little playing cards of international fugitives. Naga contacts Stitch to inform him that Adler is secure, and is being shipped to Verdansk. The other villain informs him to make the operators believe they are after the Nova 6 supply lines instead, and our discount ghost pops off into the foilage. This is when we finally start getting tangible hints as to what content to expect - a character who likely will be a playable operator is seen using a crossbow, which is featured prominently enough to almost certainly be an in-game weapon too. When the chopper lands and the squad hops off to spray hot lead into the jungle around them while miraculously not being hit, we can also spot what looks like a Galil, and the show is absolutely stolen by the minigun. We assume the latter would be ludicrously OP if it is a regular weapon and not a Scorestreak, but we’ll have to wait and see. So, the basic takeaway here is to expect new maps set in Laos, new operators based on the characters in the trailer, new weapons including a tactical crossbow, the Galil and possibly a minigun. The fact that Nova 6 got mentioned feeds back into the recently covered Zombies rumor, which stands on much more solid ground than most rumors usually do thanks to the actual Trial Machine found in a Verdansk hospital. Since Naga specifically mentiones Adler being shipped to the popular Warzone location, there are some definite ties here.
