According to Sad Cat Studios, the upcoming cyberpunk-style platformer will come out in 2023 due to the impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine. Coatsink, the game’s publisher, as well as its parent company, Thunderful, and the developers, all explained that it’s pushing back the game’s release to give staff members a chance to take better care of themselves, physically and mentally. REPLACED was part of Microsoft’s showcase at E3 2021 and would’ve helped mitigate the delay of other Xbox exclusives such as Redfall and Starfield. Unfortunately, Sad Cat’s debut title will have to wait until 2023. REPLACED now joins a long list of games that aren’t coming out anytime soon due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which includes Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp and Little Orpheus as well as STALKER 2.
