Everything started when a fan replied to one of Johnson’s tweets and brought up how he would love to see Black Adam and Superman in the same movie, to which The Rock had a positive response.
— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) July 1, 2022 Johnson’s statement doesn’t confirm anything, but it doesn’t hurt to speculate. Both Cavill and Johnson are at least familiar with each other and have posted several photos together. Not to mention, they also share the same agent. More importantly, Warner Bros. Discovery’s new CEO, David Zaslav, reportedly claims that he wants to revamp the DCEU, emphasizing the importance of Superman. Cavill’s portrayal of the Man of Steel is a fan-favorite. If Cavill is serious about returning as Superman, a Black Adam cameo would be the perfect way to “restart” the DCEU now that Zack Snyder has moved on to partner with Netflix. Chronologically speaking, it wouldn’t make sense for Black Adam and Cavill’s Superman to fight in Black Adam. Black Adam will presumably be set before modern times given the appearance of the Justice League’s precursor, the Justice Society of America. For a fight between these two DC powerhouses to happen, it would have to take place in a sequel with a post-credits scene cameo setting it up. This would be the ideal scenario, but we can never really know if and when it will happen. Superman may or may not make a cameo in Black Adam in October, but the DCEU will be wasting an opportunity if its plans for the Kahndaq anti-hero do not involve a Superman vs. Black Adam showdown. In the meantime, you can check out the first official trailer for Black Adam.
