When is Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2 going to release?
According to an interview with the Associated Press last Tuesday, Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed that Season 2 of Squid Game is already “in the planning process” and that “Gi-Hun will come back, and he will do something for the world.”
— AP Entertainment (@APEntertainment) November 9, 2021 This might be the worst-kept secret in streaming TV today, but it’s still nice to know that a sequel to Netflix’s chaotic hit series is officially coming. Of course, this isn’t the first time that Hwang Dong-hyuk has talked about Season 2 of Squid Game before. Earlier this year, the series’ creator threw around a couple of ideas that Season 2 could potentially explore if it was ever greenlit. However, with the confirmation that it is in the works, it’s safe to say that the series’ millions of fans around the world are waiting eagerly for more news. Squid Game was released on the streaming giant Netflix back on September 17. The series follows Lee Jung-jae’s Seong Gi-Hun as he and hundreds of other debt-ridden contestants compete in a violent tournament inspired by children’s games for roughly around $38 million and financial freedom. Because of the series’ basic but tantalizing premise and somewhat relatable story, fans quickly gravitated towards Squid Game. It didn’t take long for Squid Game to become Netflix’s biggest-ever series launch, edging previous record-holder, Bridgerton. Unfortunately, all fans can do for now is to wait for more news of Squid Game’s second season from Netflix. In the meantime, audiences can keep themselves busy by binge-watching the first season of Squid Game on loop in hopes that it will make time go faster. There’s also Mr. Beast’s version of Squid Game to look forward to, that’s set to start anytime this week.
