Titled as EA Sports PGA Tour, the company detailed that they’ll be using the critically-acclaimed Frostbite engine for the game’s graphics. EA also added that the game will include some of the most famous golf courses and professional golfers in the world. However, EA did not say specifically which golfers or courses will be made available for EA Sports PGA Tour.

EA Sports PGA Tour Announced

EA SPORTS PGA TOUR, a new next-gen golf game. — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) March 29, 2021 For the better part of the past three decades, the PGA Tour series of video games developed and published by Electronic Arts was an annual fixture. It prominently featured Tiger Woods as the face of the sports simulator franchise. EA developed and published a total of 16 titles with the legendary professional golfer on the cover. Unfortunately, by 2011, EA had started showing signs of discontent with the golf star’s increasingly negative reputation and worsening professional performance. By 2013, EA had dropped Woods completely in favor of Rory McIlroy for PGA Tour 3. But, without Woods’ star power, the Rora McIlroy PGA Tour games would fail to find any success. As a result, EA decided to can the entire franchise completely after just one year. More than half a decade later, EA has decided to bring back their venerated PGA Tour series of games. This announcement comes just weeks after Tiger Woods made his partnership with 2K official. EA’s return to golf games will reportedly have features that 2K’s offering will not have. Although it won’t have Tiger Woods, the upcoming title will reportedly let players play with and against other famous professional golfers. In addition to this, the game will reportedly let players build their own professional virtual careers and live their lifelong dreams of becoming a pro golfer. EA promises that they will reveal more details about the upcoming EA Sports PGA Tour title in the weeks ahead. This will reportedly include a proper release date. While the loss of Tiger Woods is definitely going to sting, EA does at least have the advantage of having more experience in the field than 2K. Not to mention, their games are actually officially in development. Meanwhile, the next game in the PGA Tour 2K series has yet to be announced. Ultimately, there’s never been a better time to be a gamer and a golfing fan. With EA and 2K at it, expect every yearly iteration to be more creative and realistic. This means that, at the end of the day, it’s the gamers who will be the winners in all of this.
