However, Update 1.20 adds the iconic 1988 McLaren MP4/4 to Gran Turismo 7. The car was driven by Ayrton Senna and Allain Prost and won the 1988 Constructs Championship for McLaren and the Drivers Championship for Senna. The update also brings three other new cars, new track layouts, and new Café Extra Menu races to the racing simulation game.
1988 Mclaren MP4/4
The 1988 McLaren MP4/4 is a Formula One racing car that competed during the turbo era. It is powered by a 1.5-liter V6 turbocharged engine made by Honda, producing 676 horsepower and 313 lb/ft of torque. The combination of the powerful turbocharged engine and well-designed aerodynamics helped Ayrton Senna and Allain Prost win 15 of the 16 races during the season. The only race the team did not win was the Italian Grand Prix where Senna collided with another car and Prost was forced to retire due to mechanical failure. The pair dominated the season winning the Constructors Championship for McLaren while Ayrton Senna won the Drivers Championship and Allain Prost placed second. Senna only had a five-point lead in the Drivers Championships at the end of the season. Ayrton Senna tragically died in 1994 at the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola, Italy. His car went off track and collided with a concrete retaining wall. The Number 12 McLaren MP4/4 race car that has been added to the game was driven by Senna. A fitting tribute to a legendary driver.
