With that said, players who’ve been waiting for the Mass Effect trilogy remaster can finally play the game next month.

What Happens If Mass Effect Legendary Edition Goes Gold?

— Mac Walters (@macwalterslives) April 9, 2021 Within the video game industry, a game going gold is a significant milestone. It basically means that there is already a master disc available containing the entire game ready for reproduction. This all but guarantees that a game is going to release at the specified release date. The good news was officially confirmed by Mass Effect Legendary Edition Project Director, Mac Walters. While the Mass Effect Legendary Edition is not a total remake of the first three games of the Mass Effect franchise, it is a significant improvement. It’s not just a full-on remaster that improves on the visuals either. Rather, the remaster is a complete package that adds all the previous DLC from the first three games. What this means is that, those players who missed out the numerous DLC adventures like the Lair of the Shadow Broker (Mass Effect 2) and From Ashes (Mass Effect 3) can finally get a chance to see what the hype was all about without having to pay extra. Considering that the original trilogy of games saw a total of more than 40 DLC titles throughout its run, including nearly all of them in a single package is a big deal. We say nearly because not all DLCs will be a part of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The sole exception is the Pinnacle Station DLC for the first Mass Effect game. According to the developers, the source code for that DLC had been corrupted. Because it would’ve taken them a long time to develop the DLC from scratch, the developers decided to drop it instead. In other news, Mass Effect Legendary Edition isn’t the only big title to go gold in recent weeks. The PS5-exclusive title, Returnal, also went gold. This means that it’s set to release on April 30, 2021. Such news comes at the best time possible. After all, 2021 has seen its fair share of delayed games. Even though only a handful were delayed for a couple of weeks, some have been delayed indefinitely with no release date in sight.
