Capcom didn’t exactly reveal everything that’s going to be part of the Resident Evil 25th Anniversary Showcase, but we have a good idea of what to expect. Naturally, it will focus primarily on Resident Evil: Village. However, the showcase will feature other upcoming Resident Evil games and media as well. Among the many titles expected to make an appearance at the Resident Evil 25th Anniversary showcase include Resident Evil Re:Verse. This is a multiplayer title that lets players choose from the many iconic playable characters throughout the Resident Evil franchise and feature all sorts of equally iconic locations. With that said, being that the upcoming showcase is a pretty big deal, we’re hoping that Capcom decides to announce big things as well. A More Extensive Playable Demo for Resident Evil Evillage
The first Resident Evil Village demo was great. However, it was severely lacking in content. Not that we’re being ungrateful, but we’re hoping that Capcom does a People Can Fly this April. What we mean by that is that the People Can Fly’s Outriders demo was very extensive. In fact, you could literally play it for dozens of hours. We also know that such a lengthy demo is only possible due to how the gameplay of Outriders works. However, that’s not stopping us from hoping that Capcom makes the demo for Resident Evil Village longer.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City and Infinite Darkness Trailers
In case you missed it, there are currently three confirmed non-gaming Resident Evil media in development.
The biggest of the three is arguably Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.
The upcoming cinematic reboot of the Resident Evil franchise will be directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down). It’s reportedly a more faithful live-action adaptation of the first two Resident Evil games. However, while we do know that it is set to release in September, we don’t really have a lot of footage to on.
So far, the only trailer we’ve gotten is for Netflix’s animated horror series, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The said show will feature Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Meanwhile, outside of a title and a synopsis that the story will reportedly revolve around Albert Wesker’s children, we don’t know much about Netflix’s Resident Evil live-action TV series.
With 2 out of 3 of these said projects expected to release sometime this 2021, it’d be a huge waste if Capcom lets the 25th Anniversary showcase pass without at least one trailer for any of the three said projects.
Even better, we’re hoping that they give us more juicy details about what to expect from all three Resident Evil projects.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Announcement
Who doesn’t want a remake of Resident Evil 4? Even if it’s only a remaster, it would still be great news. The game holds up surprisingly well, even against to modern standards. This is especially true for the ports released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. However, a complete remake, while not completely necessary, is very welcome. It’s also going to be a very timely announcement as well. Leon S. Kennedy is going to feature in a lot of upcoming Resident Evil projects. He’s expected to have a starring role in both Infinite Darkness and Welcome to Raccoon City. It is also possible that the rookie cop turned federal agent will appear in the Resident Evil TV series as well.
Resident Evil: Revelations 3 Announcement as Timed Switch Exclusive
The Resident Evil: Revelations games have been, well, quite the revelation. Although they’re nowhere near as good as some of the best mainline titles, they deserve to be mentioned in the same breath. The second game, in particular, perfected the use of an episodic format. It told a gripping tale across four episodes along with bonus content that’s just as interesting. We already know that Capcom is working on a little-known project known as Resident Evil Outrage, thanks to leaks. Because of this, we have reason to hope if not believe that Capcom will finally address the existence of the said game that many believe is actually the Nintendo Switch exclusive, Resident Evil: Revelations 3.
Resident Evil Classic Trilogy Collection
So far, all the first three Resident Evil games to release have been remade to mostly positive reviews. Only the Resident Evil 3 Remake garnered mixed reviews of the trilogy. Even then, the criticism wasn’t targeted towards the lack of polish nor the changes made. Rather, it was because many felt like the remake was significantly shorter than the original Resident Evil 3 game. So, why not release a complete trilogy of the remake of the first three Resident Evil games? We know very well that this isn’t really up Capcom’s alley. They didn’t even bother releasing a compilation of the first three Resident Evil games. However, Capcom’s changed a lot over the years as well. Besides, the two upcoming Resident Evil live adaptations will take viewers back to Raccoon City. If we’re pushing our luck though, we’re hoping that Capcom decides to give the first Resident Evil game a full-on remake again. We’re fully aware that the 2002 title already has an HD Remastered version. But, that doesn’t mean we’re not curious as to how it would look and play like if given the same remake treatment as that of the past two Resident Evil remakes.
