In an interview with Collider, Reynolds, who sat down with the director of Netflix’s The Adam Project, Shawn Levy, revealed that he is hoping to reveal more about Deadpool 3 “sooner rather than later.” One way to interpret what Reynolds just said is that he’s just waiting for Marvel Studios to give him the green light. The studio behind the billion-dollar movie franchise is notorious for adhering to a strict code of secrecy. Now that Reynolds is part of the ongoing decades-long project, Reynolds can’t be his usual talkative self. However, the fact that Reynolds acknowledged Deadpool 3 is still a lot better than hearsay and speculation. Speaking of Reynolds, it’s been a while since he’s donned his iconic character’s red and black full-body tactical suit. After the premiere of Deadpool 2 in 2018, Reynolds has starred in a sequel to 2017’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Free Guy, which recently just came to Disney+, as well as a pair of Netflix projects in Red Notice and The Adam Project, among others. Both Red Notice and Free Guy are expected to get sequels (or in Red Notice’s case, multiple sequels that will be filmed back-to-back), so Reynolds has a busy slate ahead of him. However, when you consider that Deadpool is his passion project, we’re pretty sure that he’ll prioritize filming the film, which he previously hinted would start filming later this year. After Reynolds appeared alongside Taika Waititi’s Korg in a TV commercial last year to “confirm” Deadpool’s inclusion in the MCU, one of the biggest questions surrounding Reynolds’ next Deadpool outing is who will direct the film. So far, there’s minimal grapevine talk regarding this, but after seeing Reynolds and Levy getting chummy with each other, we wouldn’t be surprised if Levy ends up helming Deadpool 3. Here’s to hoping that Marvel Studios finally removes the duct tape stapled over the merc with a mouth so that he can start blabbering about how awesome his eventual entrance to the world of his favorite comic book buddy, Spider-Man, is going to be. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the other MCU films that are set to hit theaters this year. The first one, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, was the highlight of a stacked list of trailers shown at Super Bowl LVI. The Benedict Cumberbatch-led multiversal film is expected to premiere on May 4, 2022. Meanwhile, the first season of Moon Knight will start streaming on Disney+ starting on March 30, as revealed by an earlier trailer.
