Of course, just because most are willing to risk watching No Way Home in theaters doesn’t mean that everyone wants to do it. For those that prefer to watch movies during this pandemic at home, we’ve got good news for you. No Way Home is getting a digital release and it’s happening much sooner than most would have expected.
When is No Way Home getting a digital release?
It’s worth noting that Sony nor Disney has confirmed No Way Home’s digital release date. However, our information doesn’t come from hearsay either. Instead, Vudu confirmed that No Way Home will get its digital release on February 28. Although Vudu has since removed the release date from its listing, the film’s digital version is already available for pre-order on several digital distribution platforms. At the moment, no listing of No Way Home’s digital release contains information about the movie’s special features. But, we can assume that it will include a behind-the-scenes look at how they made the movie and maybe even an extended version. In the meantime, fans can check out the Spider-Man 8-Movie Collection bundle from Vudu. It comes with all three of Tobey Maguire’s films, the pair of Andrew Garfield’s installments, and Tom Holland’s trilogy albeit Vudu will only release No Way Home once the digital version is also available for everyone else. Unfortunately, if you prefer to get a hold of a physical form of No Way Home, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Slash Film points out that Sony usually releases the physical disc version of its movies two weeks after its digital debut. If No Way Home follows the same pattern, the latest MCU film won’t hit store shelves until mid-March. This would also give No Way Home a surprisingly long theatrical window, which would make sense given how successful it has been. Rumor has it that Sony delayed Morbius to pave the way for No Way Home.
When is No Way Home coming to streaming platforms?
No Way Home’s streaming release isn’t straightforward. Even if it is a Marvel Studios film, Sony still owns Spider-Man. This would mean that No Way Home would hit Netflix first before Disney Plus because Sony signed a deal with Netflix so that all of its films in 2022 and onwards will release exclusively on the popular streaming platform first. But, because No Way Home came out in December, things are a bit complicated. Some are even suggesting that No Way Home will not wind up on Netflix and Disney Plus first. Instead, Lionsgate’s streaming platform, Starz, might get first dibs on No Way Home, much to the surprise of many. Of course, this is all just speculation. We’ll have to wait for Sony’s announcement.
