Previously, we’d heard talk that Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror will finally make his long-awaited appearance in the first trailer for Ant-Man 3. Sure enough, the general public finally got a chance to talk a look at what’s easily Ant-Man’s most important outing yet. Unlike the first two Ant-Man movies, which had minimal ramifications in the entire MCU, the third one will play a key role in the Multiverse Saga. Kang the Conqueror, in particular, will serve as the new Big Bad of the film and, quite possibly, the next dozen or so MCU shows and films. This variant of He Who Remains is more malevolent than the one we met in Loki and the trailer gives us our first look at someone who is arguably more dangerous than Thanos. The MCU’s latest threequel will bring back Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne. Also returning are Hope’s parents, the original Ant-Man and the Wasp, Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne. However, the film will also introduce a fresh face into the foray, Kathryn Newton, who will be the third actress to portray Scott’s now-grown-up daughter, Cassie. But, make no mistake, the third Ant-Man film is not a family outing - it will introduce an entirely new universe that exists “beneath ours” as well as Kang the Conqueror. It’s not clear if Kang will play an antagonistic role immediately in the film, but we’re pretty sure that ominous “if you help me” part in the tail end of the trailer guarantees that he’s up to no good. If nothing else, the fact that we’re getting an Avengers: The Kang Dynasty film in May 2025 confirms Kang’s role in the things to come. Fingers crossed, Scott doesn’t end up helping Kang just because he’s the first guy to call him by his actual superhero name and not mistake him for Spider-Man.
