How much space is Forbidden West going to consume on the PS4 and PS5?
Guerilla planned to release Forbidden West this year. Unfortunately, the studio decided to delay the game to 2022 where it will headline a stacked February lineup. Since then, Guerilla and Sony have slowly revealed more info about Forbidden West, such as pre-orders and how the game will look on the PS4. Now that we’re less than two months away from its release, a trusted source might have just beaten Guerilla and Sony to the punch, revealing Forbidden West’s file size and pre-load date.

- Some Games on Database Have Bigger Size Than on Console (10-20 GB) , Anyway Still +70 GB ! 🟩 Pre-Load : February 11🟫 Launch : February 18 🟨 #PS5 #HorizonForbiddenWest🟧 @Guerrilla pic.twitter.com/f8g0GeD4DP — PlayStation Game Size (@PlaystationSize) December 21, 2021 According to PlayStation Game Size, which uses data pulled straight from the PlayStation database, Forbidden West will take up 96GB on the PS4 and the PS5. Mind you, this file size doesn’t include a potential day one patch and expected file size changes. The same user explains that database entries aren’t always accurate. The user added that games almost always end up taking up more space once they are launched. The worst-case scenario here is that Forbidden West’s file size could be at least 110GB. If it’s any consolation, the leaker reveals that Forbidden West will start its pre-load period on February 11. This will give owners at least a week to install the game before it launches on February 18 and nearly two months to prepare from now. TLDR; if you plan on playing Forbidden West on your PS5, you better make space by uninstalling games or buying a new SSD. In other news, Forbidden West is up against some heavy competition in February. It will be interesting to see just how well the PlayStation-exclusive title will sell when it has several other AAA titles to contend with. Big-name titles such as Elden Ring and Dying Light 2 are both expected to release in the same month as well. Other noteworthy games include Sifu, CrossfireX, and Evil Dead: The Game.
