In the case of James Bond, we’ve known since last year that he’d like to play the role. Now, it appears that The Rock might be forever linked to the James Bond franchise by way of his family. In an interview with LADbible TV (H/T to Wrestling Inc), The Rock revealed a nice factoid of his family, specifically, his grandfather. The owner of Hollywood revealed his grandfather, Peter Maivia, played the role of a villain in 1967’s You Only Live Twice, which featured Sean Connery as 007. The Rock added that his grandfather had an amazing fight with Connery that saw him get hit with a sofa multiple times before being knocked out by a statue over his head. As for a potential role as the villain of a future James Bond film, The Rock had some choice words, saying “F*** the villain.” Johnson also touched up on the fact that you should never say never to an American actor playing Bond. Even if this hasn’t happened yet in the franchise’s 70-year history, Johnson is a huge believer that “it can happen”. But, while he’d like to take on the role himself, Johnson is advocating for Idris Elba as the next James Bond. Elba has previously shared that he doesn’t want the role and the producers understand why. Tom Holland and Ryan Reynolds have also thrown their hats into the ring as well. It’s very unlikely that the next James Bond is an established actor. Finally, it’s even more unlikely we’ll find out about the next James Bond soon. In the meantime, fans can enjoy watching The Rock hit theaters as Black Adam. The new DC Universe film has set a new personal box office record for The Rock and it’s beating all of the expectations set after posting abysmal scores with critics. The Rock is already working on the future of Black Adam, which supposedly includes Henry Cavill’s return as Superman. On that note, Cavill has stepped down from his role as Geralt of Rivia from Netflix’s The Witcher series.
