Ever since making his big-screen debut back in 2001 with The Mummy Returns, Johnson has established himself as one of the highest-paid Hollywood superstars. But, now and then, The Rock has been known to accept “smaller” projects for TV shows and animated series, which is why the creators of The Simpsons are hoping that The Rock will consider guest-starring in the beloved animated series. As a matter of fact, the creators of The Simpsons aren’t just wishing for this to happen - they’ve already prepared something in case the prolific actor says yes.
Is The Rock going to guest star in The Simpsons?
At the moment, The Rock has a lot going on. He’s currently busy promoting Disney’s Jungle Cruise, where he co-stars with Emily Blunt, and we expect him to have his hands full with DCEU’s Black Adam as well even though the filming has already wrapped up. After this, The Rock is probably going to work on other projects next, such as the sequel to Hobbs and Shaw. Because he’s not exactly someone with a lot of free time, we don’t think that The Rock is going to guest star in The Simpsons soon, but who knows? The opportunity to guest star in The Simpsons, especially when the creators themselves have made it publicly known that they want you, is not something that anyone, not even The Rock, should just let slip. The Simpsons is an iconic cartoon. Despite already going on its 33rd season, the series continues to remain relevant to this day. It remains a TV fixture, occasionally winning awards and accolades, including the title of “20th century’s best TV series”. Because of this, many celebrities have lent their talents and/or likeness to the show over the years. Is The Rock next? We’ll never know until it happens. However, Carolyn Omine, one of the show’s writers, suggests that there is already an idea in place if The Rock decides to guest star on The Simpsons. Omine’s response comes from the most recent Comic-Con@Home panel for The Simpsons. One of the questions revolved around the idea of The Rock becoming friends with Lisa Simpson, to which Lisa’s voice actor, Yeardly Smith, responded by saying that it “sounds like a natural fit.” Omine followed this up by confirming that there is a story in the works where The Rock and Lisa become friends. Should The Rock accept the offer to guest star in The Simpsons, he’ll join Bret “Hitman” Hart as the only wrestlers ever to do so.
