Valkyrie Elysium was one of the surprise announcements at the March State of Play event, where Square Enix confirmed that the fan-favorite series will see its first mainline entry since 2009’s Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume on the Nintendo DS. However, unlike earlier entries that had turn-based JRPG combat, Valkyrie Elysium will use real-time melee combat and magical spells, which should be interesting, to say the least. Having said that, the reason we are talking about Valkyrie Elysium right now is that it could come out soon. As spotted in this listing from Brazil’s equivalent of the ESRB, Valkyrie Elysium was added on Tuesday, June 21. The listing isn’t proof of anything but it is hinting that a release date announcement is imminent. Coincidentally, rumors suggest that Sony could hold a State of Play showcase before next month. Most would like to see more of God of War: Ragnarok at the said showcase, but we don’t think anyone would mind if Sony made it a little bit longer and added a couple of different titles as well. Regardless if there’s a State of Play next week or not, we’re hoping that we’ll see Valkyrie Elysium before the year ends. JRPG fans are in desperate need of some Square Enix magic. With Final Fantasy 16 and FF7 Remake Rebirth both set to come out next year, Valkyrie Elysium and Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII - Reunion is a great way to tide audiences over.
